In how many different languages can you say “hello” or “welcome?” At Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Services of Los Angeles (IRIS), staff make a point of welcoming newcomers with familiar words, using one of more than 10 different languages.

IRIS, one of EMM’s affiliate organizations and an initiative of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, has been offering a warm welcome and providing services and support to refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and other forcibly displaced persons in the Los Angeles area since 2004. Its key programs include refugee resettlement, immigration legal services, cultural orientation, and food assistance programs.
