Phase 3: Readiness Assessment
Phase 3 begins with the submission of your completed application.
Application Checklist
We encourage you to review the Welcome Plan, which details all the questions that are asked, and all the documents that are required to be uploaded in the online application.
Documents you will upload in the online application:
- Training Videos Completion Certificate Form for each team member
- Safe Church, Safe Communities certificates of completion for each team member (if issued)
- Certificates of completion for Cultural Orientation Resource Exchange training for community sponsors (one or more team members) (if issued)
- Documentation of background checks
- Code of Conduct for each team member

What happens next?
After you have successfully submitted your application, watch for an email from EMM confirming receipt, requesting a follow-up, and scheduling a meeting with your team. During this meeting, we will discuss your application and together discern and confirm your readiness to welcome your new neighbors. Once we mutually determine that your team is ready for sponsorship, we will work with external partner organizations to identify individuals/families seeking asylum who are in need of your team’s support. We will be in touch with you regarding all details, from travel to housing needs, family size to medical needs, and more.
