Isaiah 58:11
The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places,
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.

Reflection by Kendall Martin

We do not navigate this journey of life alone. God promises to guide us, to fill our spirits when we are weak and weary. When we start to lose hope, when we can’t imagine how we can possibly offer the love and support that so many of our neighbors need, when we find ourselves in opposition to systems that seek to keep people out and turn them away, we need only look to God. What we shall find is an abundance of love and faith to carry us through.

Let us pray.

Blessed are You, Lord Jesus Christ.

You crossed every border
between Divinity and humanity
to make your home with us.
Help us to welcome you in newcomers,
migrants and refugees.
Blessed are You, God of all nations.
You bless our land richly
with goods of creation
and with people made in your image.
Help us to be good stewards and peacemakers,
who live as your children.
Blessed are You, Holy Spirit.
You work in the hearts of all
to bring about harmony and goodwill.
Strengthen us to welcome those
from other lands, cultures, religions,
that we may live in human solidarity
and in hope.
God of all people, grant us vision
to see your presence in our midst,
especially in our immigrant sisters and brothers.
Give us courage to open the door to our neighbors
and grace to build a society of justice.

Giving has the power to bring joy, freedom, and purpose, and what we often experience ourselves, we long to share it with others. Your generosity helps us fulfill our mission to journey with and serve these beloved peoples of God.
