Here’s a fresh installment in our series spotlighting the dedicated affiliate staff who tirelessly work behind the scenes to support our mission to welcome. Staff are nominated by colleagues who wish to recognize their hard work and dedication.

Today, we are happy to shine a spotlight on Khosraw Anwari who serves as a Preferred Communities case manager at the Center for Survivors of Torture (CST), in Austin, Texas. CST is one of EMM’s focus program partners, providing services through the Preferred Communities program designed to meet the needs of extremely vulnerable refugees.

During the year and counting that Khosraw has been with CST, he has played a pivotal role in expanding local services for newly arrived refugees. He provides case management, direct financial assistance, and interpretation. He helps refugees navigate their new environment and connect with essential resources.

Beyond traditional casework, Khosraw often serves as a mentor and friend to those in need. A fun fact about Khosraw is that he is fluent in four languages:  English, Dari, Pashto and Urdu! This allows him to build deeper connections with refugees from diverse backgrounds. As one of his colleagues put it, “Khosraw is truly an exceptional individual who demonstrates extraordinary leadership and care for refugees every day.”

Thank you, Khosraw!  We are so grateful for your skilled and sensitive work and the real impact you have every day in the lives of those fortunate to interact with you.
